Penacity Delivers Opening Keynote Presentation for CCBC Tech Club

September 18, 2020 (Hanover, MD) – Penacity was honored to deliver the opening keynote presentation for the Community College of Baltimore County (CCBC)’s Tech Club’s Fall 2020 semester.

Penacity has been an industry partner with CCBC since the company’s founding in 2016, and considers partnering with local Maryland institutions for higher learning as a vital way to give back to the community.

Dr. Timothy Schilbach, founder and CEO of Penacity, LLC and AboutWeb, LLC, created the presentation, “A Bird’s Eye View of Cybersecurity,” which covered cybersecurity as it relates to Governance, Industry, and the Military. The lecture included a discussion of the NIST 800-171 security protocols, and the evolution of CMMC and how it relates to small businesses doing work with the Department of Defense. Additional topics included notable cyber, phishing and ransomware attacks, including the infamous data breach of the F-35 Joint Strike Fighter, and recent ransomware attacks that affected Atlanta in 2018 and Baltimore City in 2019.

“It is a personal mission of mine to help ensure that students of cybersecurity are getting access to the most current, bleeding edge of cyber technology, and help bridge that gap that can exist in academia because of the rapidly evolving technology,” said Dr. Schilbach. “Industry knowledge is an important component to rounding out the academic education when pursuing a career in cybersecurity. As leaders in the security field, Penacity is uniquely suited to help provide this additional resource and ensure students have access to the most up-to-date information.”
