Tuesday 12/17/19 (Tysons, VA) – AboutWeb CEO Robert Epstein kicked off the 21st annual AboutWeb Day of Giving in Tysons, VA this morning along with the AboutWeb team, making stops at two local charities selected by the AboutWeb staff: Second Story (formerly Alternative House) in Tysons, VA; and Manna Food Center of Rockville, MD.

“Giving back to our local communities has always been a core principle for me personally, and is embedded within AboutWeb’s DNA,” said Robert Epstein, CEO of AboutWeb and founder of the AboutWeb Cares program.

“Since I founded this company in 1998, one of the things I look forward to most each year is the AboutWeb Annual Day of Giving, so that we can directly impact those who need our help the most in the neighborhoods where we work.”

Second Story (formerly Alternative House), is a local youth shelter providing a safe space for at risk kids (ages 13-17) since 1972, located just a few hundred feet away from the AboutWeb Tysons office. Manna Food Bank in Rockville works to eliminate hunger by providing over 31,000 meals each year to local individuals in need.

Supporting the communities where he works has always been a touchstone of AboutWeb’s corporate structure. “It means a lot to me that I can walk over to Second Story from our Tysons office, or take a short drive from our Gaithersburg corporate headquarters office to Manna Food Bank, and personally deliver these much-needed donations. It’s local, which makes it more personal,” said Epstein.

After the morning stop at Second Story, the AboutWeb team headed to Manna Food Bank, located just minutes from the AboutWeb Corporate Headquarters office in Gaithersburg, MD. It took several hands to unload the full donation.

“It is always important to remind our AboutWeb team about how many people in Montgomery County suffer from a shortage of food, especially the kids,” said AboutWeb Senior Director Angela Young. “I’m grateful we have a socially responsible company that’s taking true action to address that.”

In addition to AboutWeb’s Annual Day of Giving, AboutWeb gives back to its local communities by providing year-round, paid IT training and cybersecurity opportunities through its AboutWeb Cares division.

Founded in 1998, AboutWeb is a leading provider of cybersecurity solutions, information technology consulting, and product development to government agencies, commercial entities, nonprofits, and associations. AboutWeb is a certified HUBZone Small Business, and recently won national recognition when Epstein was awarded the prestigious 2018 “Corporate Citizen of the Year” award from the National HUBZone Contractors Council for his notable work with the AboutWeb Cares program.
