9/27/19 (Gaithersburg, MD) – AboutWeb is pleased to announce that the company has successfully been recertified as a HUBZone Small Business Concern.
“We are big fans of the HUBZone program since it aligns with our strategic initiatives and values that we employ with our AboutWeb Cares,” said Robert Epstein, President & CEO of AboutWeb, and founder of the AboutWeb Cares program.
The “HUBZone” (Historically Underutilized Business Zone) is a company-level diversity certification used by the Small Business Administration to help small businesses located in distressed areas gain preferential access to federal procurement opportunities.
HUBZones are defined as distressed rural and urban communities, typically having low median household incomes, high unemployment or both; the location of these communities is determined by data gathered from the Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD), the Bureau of the Census, the Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS), the Department of the Interior, Bureau of Indian Affairs and the Department of Defense.
AboutWeb joined the HUBZone program in 2016, and has since become a national trendsetter for excellence, winning the 2018 Corporate Citizen of the Year award from the National HUBZone Contractors Council, and also the 2019 Cybersecurity Diversity Trailblazer award from the Cybersecurity Association of Maryland, Inc. (CAMI).
